Colchester Borough Council are running afterschool clubs for children at Monkwick Junior School in basketball and tennis and wider use of the adiZone. This was organised working with the Headteacher of Monkwick Junior School who wanted to get involved with the adiZone.
Marie Hartley (Culture, Sport and Leisure Manager) Great Yarmouth Borough Council
There are groups of schools using the facility during school time – it’s been a very helpful addition to the facilities on offer to schools and very well received. Lynn Grove High School and feeder schools are using the adiZone. The SSP played an active role in making this happening.
Kevin Read, Leisure Officer, Southend on Sea Borough Council
Curriculum activity with local primary schools is taking place at the adiZone – schools are using the gym equipment and tennis wall in particular – typically things that can’t be done in the playground. Shoeburyness area primary schools are using it - 3 schools per week / 20 per class.
Interview conducted Oct 2011 – with partners who have their adiZone located in a school.
Clare Baker, Learning Leader PE and CEIAG Coordinator, Ringmer Academy
We try to use the adiZone in PE lessons so that every fourth lesson is an adiZone lesson. The older students are happiest using it for circuit training. The youngsters use it the most, especially before school and at break and lunch times.
It is used at Open Evenings and I believe some of our community clubs who use our facilities in the evenings and weekends also use it.
