Movement is Medicine and Power with NHS Wales

TGO has teamed up with NHS Wales as part of an initiative to get people moving to prevent obesity. ‘On your Bike’ is a project run by Rural Health and Care Wales, funded by Cynnal y Cardi, which aims to encourage physical activity in young people by giving them the opportunity to use TGO's outdoor power-generating, static bikes to charge their mobile devices. The “On your Bike” project aims to highlight the health and wellbeing benefits of outdoor exercise, keeping active and addressing obesity whilst using renewable power generation.

In July, we will be incentivising residents in three sites: Lampeter, Cardigan and Aberaeron to generate power on TGO’s energy generating gym equipment. For each kilowatt generated we will be planting 50 trees with Ecologi.

This is the first partnership with Ecologi who will provide the virtual forests. TGO has already planted over 50,000 trees in the UK with the NHS Forest and in Kenya with Eden Reforestation. Planting trees for every piece of equipment sold.

Which TGO gym will generate the most power and plant the most trees?

‘We are so grateful to NHS Wales. This initiative epitomises our healthy people, healthy planet vision. Only through people sharing the vision, can it come to life. NHS Wales is doing this! Movement, community and nature are massive drivers of health. At TGO gyms we can also harness the energy and generate electricity. NHS Wales are pioneering this concept and we appreciate their hardworking team for sticking with us and helping us grow too as well as the forests we will be planting together.’ Georgie Delaney, MBE Co founder of TGO gyms and TGO activate
